Cockram family of Whitby Falls Coach House Ca1895
The Whitby Falls Coach House was built by Edward Cockram in 1872. It was built to accommodate the Jarrahdale timber workers and those travelling from Perth to Pinjarra. It was situated on 802 acres which was used for farming, supplying fresh fruit and vegetables to hospitals around Perth.The photograph shows Edward Cockram and his family.Back row: Grace, Arthur, Gerald, Frank, Wilfred, EvaFront Row: Mr Edward Cockram. Ida, Violet, Mabel, Mrs Frances Cockram (nee Kemp), Baysey.The eldest son, Louis Charles, at aged 14 years, was accidentally burned to death by an exploding cask of rum and resulting fire in the bar room of the Coach House in 1888.
