Jarrahdale Junction Railway Station Ca1900

Overview

When the Perth to Bunbury railway line was established in 1893, sidings were created to give settlers who had properties along the Serpentine River access to the line. Mundijong was one of these. This line crossed the Jarrahdale-Rockingham rail line at an H or Diamond crossing, a replica of which is displayed near its original position on the South side of Mundijong Railway Park.Originally located east of the railway line, it was called Jarrahdale Junction but later changed to Mundijong, the station yard stretched from the Richardson Street crossing to the Watkins Road crossing. The Station building included the Stationmaster's offices, a ticket office, an enclosed passenger waiting room and a ladies waiting room originally designed as a refreshment area.On the western side of the rail tracks stood a large goods shed through which ran a service line as far as the Richardson Street crossing where a turntable was located.
