Commemorative Coronation Cup for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth

Overview

A white ceramic cup with two oval pictures, one of King George V and the other Queen Elizabeth in sepia. On either side of the oval pictures are the flags of England in gold red and blue, and separating the two pictures is a gold and red crown. Underneath the two pictures is a gold ribbon scroll. On the tother side of the cup is a blue drawing of leaves intertwined around a blue ribbon scroll. There is a gold trim around the rim of the cup and handle.

Inscriptions and markings

Underneath the crown in gold lettering is "CORONATION", underneath the left oval picture is "KING GEORGE V" and underneath the right is "QUEEEN ELIZABETH". On the back of the cup in the blue ribbon scroll is "LOYAL KATANNING".

On the base of the cup stamped in black lettering is "MADE EXPRESSLY FOR ROGERS LTD KATANNING" and stamped in green lettering is "WAGSTAFF & BRUNT LONDON ENGLAND ALL BRITISH"

Statement of significance

Celebration china was a collectable item and purchased by most households. These were speccially made by Rogers for Katanning people.
