Overview

A 1989 International Baseball Association Junior-Youth medallion made of silver-coloured metal. The obverse is enamelled with a cream background and red and blue highlights on the stylised maple leaf flag. The insignia of the International Baseball Association is enamelled with blue. The date and Canadian location of the championship is embossed above the IBA logo. The reverse is burnished black metal. A red, white and blue striped, synthetic ribbon is attached to the medallion.

Historical information

The 1989 World Junior Championship was the 9th World Junior Championship. It was held from August 10 to August 20 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada.

In the finale, the USA beat Cuba for the Gold. Australia got the Bronze. Taiwan was 4th, Venezuela, Canada and Brazil were all 3-2 to tie for 5th. Italy was 8th and Mexico and the Netherlands Antilles tied for 9th. The Netherlands and France tied for last.
