This subject is used to provide a history of all people and organisations who have performed the role of club caterer or chef.
Details of all people/organisations in this role are not very well defined, particularly in the earlier period of the club's existence. Gaps in the records have been defined by a nominal "Person" CHEF, Unknown and for some, only partial names are known. An example of this occurs after Laurie Hughes resigned on 27/9/1976. Council of Management minutes show that a replacement caterer had still not been appointed by 17/1/1977. The next mention of the caterer was on 30/3/1978 indicating that a woman had been appointed, name not mentioned.
Mrs Brooks (Perfection Caterers) has been credited with providing their services for a club function held at the Raffles Hotel on 25th October 1967. It is not known whether their services were subsequently utilised.
Council of Management minutes dated 17/1/85 noted that Charles Sultana (1980-1984) had became unwell. A subsequent minute stated that club member Lawrie Swain offered to provide catering services to the club and assist with the employment of a replacement caterer that was advertised on 9/2/85. It is not clear if any appointment resulted before Ken Foskett was later mentioned as the caterer in December 1986.
The implementation of this role has varied through the club's history as reflected in the associations:
- Chef
- Caterer
- Contractor(s)
