Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NBY)

Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NBY) is the corporation for the Yawuru community, the native title holders of the country in and around Broome. Yawuru traditional cultural values stem from the Bugarrigarra, the time before time, and are embedded in NBY’s mission, centred on the Yawuru philosophy of `mabu liyan’ (well being): mabu liyan, mabu buru, mabu ngarrangunil (we feel good when our country is healthy and our community is strong). NBY is committed to the management, preservation, documentation and interpretation of the continuing cultural heritage of Yawuru people, working closely with their cultural neighbours to promote the indigenous culture of their region.
