Contextual Information

This garrbina mayiyi (shield) represents our mayi (bush fruits) and other resources, such as the girrbaju (honey). Made from jigily (bauhinia) which flowers in Barrgana, giving nectar to all types of fauna species, and wax that we use to make spears and axes. It signals the time for fishing for walgawalga (salmon). Like all our balu (trees) jigily has a place and purpose and helps to tell us the change of seasons, and will help us to monitor climate change in our country.
