The City of South Perth Local History Collection is a source of knowledge, stories and memories for the local community and visitors. Information in various formats of the history of places, people and activities within South Perth, Como, Kensington, Manning, Karawara, Waterford and Salter Point is collected.
Housed at the South Perth Library, the local history collection contains books, photographs, maps, oral history interviews, objects, artworks, ephemera and local newspapers.
In addition to the local history collection, the City of South Perth manages the Old Mill and runs regular walks and historical talks throughout the year.

Collection overview
The City of South Perth Local History Collection, collects and preserves historical material that relates to all suburbs within the City’s past and present boundaries. These suburbs include South Perth, Kensington, Como, Karawara, Waterford, Manning and Salter Point.
Heritage items are on display at the Old Mill and Heritage House.
Large collection of oral history recordings which cover the topics of: childhood memories of the area, employees and business owners accounts, WWI and WWII memories, and community life in the suburbs.
Collection highlights include the Old Mill and cottage, Weaver & Lock, May and Herbert Gibbs Collection, Perth Zoo, Southern Gazette newspaper, heritage photographs and information on heritage locations.
