In 1913 Alfred George Skeet was christened on the shores of Forrestdale Lake. His parents Lillian and Alfred Tunbridge Skeet belonged to families who have played an important role in creating the Forrestdale community.
Alfred Tunbridge Skeet and his brother William took up a land grant around Forrestdale Lake in 1885. Lillian arrived in Forrestdale with her parents, George and Laura Dumsday and four siblings in 1908. Lillian and Alfred were married in February 1912 and the following year Alfred George Skeet was born. On 2 February 1913 Alfred and six other local children were baptised next to Forrestdale Lake. A baler shell given to Lillian by a friend was used by the Reverend Hanes, from St Mary's in the Valley Church in Kelmscott, as the font.
Lillian and Alfred would have another four children and each of them was christened using the baler shell font.
