Born to Ernest and Ethel Doggett in 1915, Doxie Aris (nee Doggett) was a well-known Subiaco socialite who regularly appeared in the society pages of The West Australian and Sunday Times newspapers. Doxie grew up in the family home at 45 Hopetown Terrace, Shenton Park.

Doxie and married Charles Lloyd Aris in 1951, and welcomed their first child, Gail Elizabeth Aris in the December of 1952.

These objects, and many others, have been kindly donated by Doxie Aris herself. This collection of life’s objects holds wonderful examples of craftsmanship and beauty in everyday objects with practical functions.

Doggett Family at an open field, corner of Smyth and Aberdare Roads

Peggy and Rob Henwood sitting with Doxie Doggett (later Mrs Sadlier) on a tree-stump or part of a felled tree, watched by Mr. C.W. Doggett (Doxie's Grandfather), who is standing with hat in right hand and pipe in left. Taken in an open field at the corner of Smythe and Aberdare Roads. Mr Doggett had grubbed out the tree stump that the children are sitting upon. The paddock in the background is now the site of Hollywood High School, and the paddock where the children are sitting is now the school's playing fields.
