Historical information

The Gumnut Factory made bushcraft from wood, gumnuts and seedpods and was established by Chris Trump in March 1979 with work initially being carried out from his garden shed. In June 1979 the factory moved into a unit in Buckingham Drive in the Wangara Industrial Estate. Business flourished and the factory moved in 1980 to bigger premises in Prindiville Drive. The Arts and Crafts shop also opened in 1980. The Gumnut Factory was featured on several television shows and was the subject of many publications and newspaper articles. Chris published a book, "The First Gumnut Factory" and built Gumnutland model village railway in 1987. Products were exported to the Eastern States and the factory was visited by thousands of tourists. In 2001, Chris sold the business to Anita and Richard Caesar and the factory moved to the Swan Valley in late 2002. The business has now closed down.
