The border comprises a laurel wreath and the recessed centre has a depiction of two women wearing flowing robes tending to a wounded person in a forest setting of trees and bushes. Above them, an enamelled red cross (the only colour on the medallion) with rays emanating from it, is illuminating the scene.
The reverse features the same wreath border, while the central recessed area is engraved with the award details. The maker's mark 'G&S Co, Ld' appears at the bottom. There are no silver hallmarks visible.
