Antique gilded metal Mizpah sweetheart fob or pendant

1850 - 1920
Overview

Antique gilded metal Mizpah sweetheart fob or pendant. It is in the shape of a shield and features the word 'MIZPAH' on the diagonal on a textured, gilded background. Either side of the word is a depiction of an olive leaf paired with a small circular berry or ball motif, which traditionally signifies peace, hope, and enduring fidelity.
The shield has a raised border with a hole at the top through which a jump ring or chain could be threaded for use or wearing.
The reverse is smooth and plain. There are no maker's marks.

There are several Mizpah items in the collection.
