c. 1950 - 1959Black and white photograph showing Angus Hardie (1904-1961) in shorts and singlet standing on top of a home-made wooden ladder at the back of a house, and with trees behind him. The ladder was made by Angus, for painting purposes as well as somewhere to hang flower pots. It was often borrowed by neighbours and was referred to as the 'Giraffe Ladder'
Angus was employed at the Midland Workshops. During WW2 and the Depression (1930's), he made many home-made items, including an electric radiator
