FILM PROJECTOR: RCA 35MM PROJECTOR USED BY PADDY BAKER, CIRCA 1930

Overview

RCA portable projector on stand. Breaks down into three parts. Uses 35 mm analogue film. Dark brown metal finish case forms body of projector for housing new film reel. Used film reel cylinder sits above projector body with projection glass and reflector housing attached to one side. Projector body is positioned securly on steel stand with three pronged leg base.

Historical information

When the Regal Theatre changed to a live theatre the Baker Theatre trust donated Paddy Baker’s five RCA portable projectors to the AMMPT along with the main Regal Theatre projectors. One portable projector has been restored and given back to the Regal for display, and another has recently been donated by the AMMPT to the City of Subiaco, at the Subiaco Museum.

This projector belonged to Clarence Patrick ‘Paddy’ Baker, former owner of the Regal Theatre. When the Regal Theatre changed to a live theatre in 1976 the Baker Theatre trust donated Paddy Baker’s five RCA (Radio Corporation of America) portable projectors to the AMMPT along with the main Regal Theatre projectors. This projector was donated to the Subiaco Museum in 2018, while another was restored and given back to the Regal Theatre for display.
