TOOTHBRUSH, BONE
c. 1900Long rectangular shaped piece of bone shaped with a head that is rounded at the top and is about one third the size of the toothbrush handle. The handle itself is flat on the bottom and convex on the top.
The head has little holes that were for bristles.
Items such as tooth brushes and hair brushes would be made from bone. This is due to bone being resistant to water, its strength, appearance and it was relatively affordable which kept the cost of the final product low.
The Butcher family were early settlers in the City of Armadale region. The first members arrived in Perth around the mid-1980s as part of indenture programs or to join family.
