Small Cannon Ball
Small cast iron cannonball.
The French introduced the cast iron cannonball some time after 1450 and its impact was huge as it had the capacity to destroy traditional English fortifications to rubble. These early cannons had a tubular body which was cast in a single piece and used round cannonballs made of stone but with advances in gunpowder the cannonballs were soon made of cast iron.
