PHOTOGRAPH: MR AND MRS GROVER
The photograph, showing the head and shoulders of John and Joan Grover was taken out of doors with trees in the background. Mr Grover wears a small-checked suit with vestcoat, striped tie and a wide brimmed hat. Mrs Grover wears an overcoat over a jacket and blouse, with a beret type hat. John Grover was the gardener of the Subiaco Municipal Gardens. The donor records some information regarding her mother on the back: 'She was known as 'Mum of Hollywood' and we went from bed to bed. I had my own concert party after leaving that of Mrs Thomas (Joan a stalwart woman] for good. My mother was given an honorary off-hours military pass to 110 AGH as we visited from the time therer was just one ward (from one ward to over 20) of the North West boys who were among those bombed by the Jap surprise raid. Were badly burned patients. Later we saw the first British P.O.W.'s from Jap hands and my mother gave them English papers. When they finally went home we were given a pass to see the Maidstone go and a salute from Com's. Mum and Dad good parents - never realised.'
