PHOTOGRAPH: MUNICIPAL GARDENS
c. 1925Image: Hand coloured photograph of rose arches, lawns, mature trees and the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Clock in the Subiaco Municipal Gardens (later called the Rankin Gardens). The Head Gardener at the time was Mr. J Grover.
Reverse: Mr Grover's daughter, Mrs.Daphne Groves has written on the back of the photograph mount, the following:- 'This was specially done for Mr. J Grover the gardener for many years and given to him by Mr.Flood Snr. (dec), father of the new Councillor (Wally Flood). These gardens were my father's life and love, often attended in his own weekend hours free.' 'From Ms. Daphne Groves (nee Grover), 153 Herbert Road, Shenton Park, W A' 'Mayor at the time Chris Luth' - (Town Clerk) 'We lived 154 Park Street then 193 Hamersley Road.'
