c. 1920A high quality digital scan of an original photograph. The photograph is a sepia image of the house at 39 Nicholson Road in Subiaco. Matilda, Frederick and Roy Sedgley are standing on the footpath outside the home next to a white picket fence. The house is a brick building with a decorative front verandah. There is a sign next to the front door that appears to say the name 'Sedgley'. The family is well dressed - Mathilda is wearing a long dress while both Frederick and Roy are wearing suits and hats. Frederick and Roy are holding hands. There are other houses both next to and behind the house. On the back of the photograph is the following inscription in pen: Matilda and Frederick Sedglaey and son Roy Edward Sedgley - 39 Nicholson Rd Subiaco Mavis Diane(?) Sedgley borne at 39 Nicholson Rd. There are also green-gold marks in the top right corner that appear to say 'P Ga Mt - N. Z'. There are some other marks in the same colour pen in the centre of the photograph.
The donor did not wish to donate the original photograph but has allowed the museum to scan a digital version for use.

Historic: Frederick Sedgley was a prominent figure in the history of Subiaco as the builder of the Fallen Soldiers Memorial. This photograph shows his home and family when they were living at 39 Nicholson Road
Social: This photograph represents the fashion and architecture of Subiaco in the early 1920s. It also shows the Sedgley family, a well known family in Subiaco and provides an insight into life during that time period.
