PHOTOGRAPH (REPRODUCTION): SUBIACO FOOTBALL CLUB, 1920
1920Black and white photograph reproduction mounted on a white card display. The photograph has 27 men and 1 boy posing for a team photograph. Photograph is stuck on a card display, with grey shading around the photograph on the card. Most men are wearing football jumpers or jerseys, however some are wearing shirts and ties. Image was captured outside in front of a wooden structure. An old fashioned football can be seen in the centre of the photograph, held by the team's captain. Above the photograph on the card display, printed in bold black lettering is: 'Subiaco Football Club, (W.A. F.A), 1920. Below the photograph are the names of the team members. On the reverse side of the card a piece of paper is stuck with the donor's details and some very brief exposition of the photo.
Original photograph was taken in 1920, but the photographer is unknown. The new photograph was scanned and retouched by Norvek (Shop 5/714 Ranford Road).
The original photograph was owned by Harold Carson (front row far right in the photograph) who immigrated to Australia in 1897 from Scotland. Landing in Albany, he proceeded to kalgoorlie where he lived until 1908. After lliving in Fremantle, he moved to Grosvenor Road North Perth (when the photo was taken) sometime before or after WW1. He and his family eventually settled at 7 Freshwater Parade Claremont. Harold was a linotype setter and worked for a newspaper.The original photograph was given to Harold's nephew, the donor of this reproduction, when he passed away in the early 1980s. Harold died at Sunset Hospital in Nedlands.
