FLOUR CANISTER: CALYX, WHITE

Overview

Clear glazed white bodied pottery flour canister with straight sides and serpentine front and back. On the front in bold black letters is 'FLOUR' which is smudged. There are glaze runs on the front and all around the top rim also inside the back at the top.
Base: The foot is unglazed and slopes down to a depressed centre on whch the Calyx brand appears in black. The brand mark is incomplete and shows a swan above a ribbon on which is written 'CALYX' and beneath this are some black marks (PERTH) and 'W A'.

Historical information

Canister was found at street verge collection, Shenton Prk in 2013.
