Overview

Mercury Arc Rectifier used to convert Alternating Current to Direct Current for trolley bus/tram system operation. AC power is not suitable for these operations due to its low torque characteristics. Mercury Arc Rectifiers were superceded by Di-Odes. The estimated output of this rectifier is 300kW and they were used until the early 1950s.
