TOOTHPICK HOLDER: WEMBLEY WARE, WHITE SWAN

Overview

Small china swan on water, white lustre glaze with gold beak. The swan is hollow, as it has been slip-cast. Interior is glazed cream.

Base: The words "Wembley Ware' can be faintly seen cast onto the base because the plaster mould in which it was made must have been quite worn. The base is glazed in cream, and the foot has been wiped clean of glaze before firing.

Historical information

Wembley Ware was made in Subiaco by Brisbane and Wunderlich between 1946 and 1961.
