These cups were commissioned by Derek and Dot Newton, to feature Derek's artwork. Some examples of these cups were given away while Dot and Derek were volunteers at Cockman House between 2009 and 2012.
The artwork on the cups is by Derek Newton, the donor's husband. The cups were made by Sandalwood Australian Fine China. Derek and Dot had these cups made, along with some similar design coffee mugs, because there were very few items available showcasing the first house in Wanneroo (Cockman House).
