Historical information

Jacobson's Pharmacy was built by Mr Alfred E. Golder in 1925 who ran it with his daughter Miss Golder who was also a pharmasict' They could be summoned down to the shop by the night bell to the right of the doorway to dispense emergency prescriptions.

In 1945 Edith Allard, nee Jacobson, acquired the pharmacy, lived in the quarters upstairs and rennovated twice. She qualified as a pharmacist in 1927 and co-founded the WA Womens' Pharmacy Association. She worked for 50 years in her profession and was the first female pharmacist in WA to manage a pharmacy.

In 1958 Mr Geoffrey Miller came to work with Miss Jacobson and, after her retirement, he took over the business (1961-1988). Photo taken when the Claremont Arcade was being built in 1966.
