Historical information

Thomas Hogarth opened Swanbourne Veterinary Hospital in 1939 and retired in 1962. First came to WA as a dog show judge invited by Premier Collier to take part in state's Centenary celebrations. Left to continue travels as a professional judge. In Spain at the time of the civil war, he fled to Canada and qualified as a vet. Hearing that there were few vets in WA, he returned to Perth and opened a veterinary clinic in the old stables of 2 Devon Road and installed the latest in equipment. He married Pamela Beaumont in 1942.
