Headlight Cover
c. 1939 - 1945A circular flat iron plate with circular hole cut into surface near top and long rectangular hole, cut into centre. Both holes are screened with glass, the top hole with white glass and the centre slit with fluted clear glass. The centre slit is further screened by a trough like iron projection that projects out from the back plate.
Such covers were used during World War II to screen out car lights during the 'blackout'. Both are if crude manufacture - cut around their rims in an erratic manner - probably with hard tin snips. Both are painted with black paint.
