Overview

The image shows Miss Shirley Strickland standing up in a car with its hood rolled back, wearing a blazer and open neck white blouse, holding a large bouquet of flowers. She is shaking hands with Mr Abrahams, Mayor of Subiaco who is standing on the pavement. The occasion is Miss Strickland's return from the 1952 Olympics as a Gold Medallist, and the location is the corner of Bagot and Rokeby Roads. There is a large crowd in the background. A lady stands at Mr Abrahams' left and is looking at him beaming and behind her, a photographer raises his camera. On the reverse are the words: 'Shirley Strickland in Subiaco. Returns after winning Olympic Gold Medal 1952'.
