Black and white family portrait of married couple and infant child.

Historical information

Frank Roberts (1871-1939) is the grandson of William and Isabella Roberts who first arrived at Australind from Cornwall in 1842. The couple established themselves on 'North Capel Farm' the following year. Their son Charles Fox Roberts gradually took over more duties on the farm as his siblings married and moved on. Charles married Hannah Hurst in 1864, with Frank being their fifth child.
Mary Jane (Janie) Higgins (1872-1951) was born at 'Springfield' farm also near Capel.
Frank and Janie married in 1894 and welcomed their first child Wilfred in 1896.
