Boyanup School Garden1906
A series of two black and white images. The first features approximately 20 children posed about an ornamental garden. Some of the children hold barrows between them. A garden shed stands at the rear of the garden and the scene is framed by woodlands. The second image features a crowd of people seated on wooden benches observing a croquet match. Several buildings and woodlands are visible in the background.
The photograph depicts Boyanup State School students for the occasion of being awarded a 'best school garden' in a year long competition in 1906.
The garden was fenced with timber and split posts and consisted of flower and vegetable beds, planted vines, fruit and ornamental trees.
The garden also included shade houses, and a leveled playing field that had swings and a see saw.
