Rocking Bassinet
A cast iron bassinet with decorative frame and swinging crib, brass or similar screw on knob at
apex of frame. Maximum dimensions: L - 97 cm W - 60 cm H - 99 cm. Basket dimensions L - 89.5
cm W - 48 cm H - 38 cm.
An identical example was identified for sale during research that described the item as dating
from the 1920's but provided no supporting information. The example for sale also had a
curling drape rod that attached to one of the screw threads on the frame apex to support a crib
canopy.
Basket is a mix of diagonal wire mesh, woven wire strands and riveted iron bars. The item is
painted white, but painted is discoloured. The entire frame can be disassembled and basket
removed, one nut is missing from the lower section of the frame. Wire mesh measures L - 3 cm
W - 3 cm on average but varies.
