Historical information

This note was written by Newton Waldeck on 13/08/1868 at Charles Crowther's Store in Geraldton. It was for goods being carted by Robert Whitehead to John Maley's Store at North Greenough. There the goods were to be transferred to William Waldeck's team and carted to Irwin for delivery to Charles Sloper.
Robert Newton Waldeck (1844-93) was a son of Frederick and Fredericke Waldeck and worked for several years in Geraldton as a clerk.
Charles Crowther (1831-94) came to WA in 1850 and first worked for George Shenton before opening his own store. He was MLC for Greenough from June 1873 to April 1887.
Robert Whitehead (c1817-?) was a former convict no.3095.
John Stephen Maley (1839-1910) owned a flour mill and general store at North Greenough.
William Frederick Waldeck (1839-84) was a farmer and carter at Greenough, and John Maley's brother-in-law.
Charles Sloper (1829-95) was a former convict no.3870 who worked as a teamster and later farmed at Dongara.
