RIOT SHIELD

Overview

Large, oval shaped, black, moulded fibre glass riot shield. Riveted to the inside is a black and white nylon arm strap measuring 235mm long, with 120mm long metal interior handle held in place by two metal brackets riveted to the shield. Across the inside of the shield, behind the arm strap and handle, is a rectangular strip of yellow foam rubber, measuring 90 x 490 x 20mm, glued to the shield and acting as a cushion for the user's carrying arm. The front of the shield has many scratches and other marks caused by use.

Historical information

This riot shield was used by the Metropolitan Security Unit at Fremantle Prison. It was donated by Robert Dainton, a member of the Metropolitan Security Unit.
