Large metal trophy on wooden base, urn shape with decorated overhanging lip and two ornate handles.

Historical information

Hockey trophy awarded annually to the Best Boys' First XI player for each year, commencing ca. 1977. Donated to BCGS by former student Neil Jilley (py 1976) after graduating from School. Before this time there was no trophy for BCGS Boys' Hockey.

Inscribed with text: The Clayton Cup - Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School - Boys' Hockey - Fairest and Best - Donated by Mr. N. C. Jilley. Wooden base has multiple metal shields with Best Boys First XI winners and years inscribed upon each.

Contextual Information

Retrieved from storage after 2010 by the School Hockey Co-ordinator, with some gaps in years on the shields denoting the winners around the base as the trophy had not been used for some years. Most of the missing winners added in retrospect at that time, but some are still missing.
