Winnowing Wheat
c. 1930A black and white photograph of three men and one woman bagging wheat. The men are dressed in working clothes, the woman is wearing a long dress, all are wearing hats. The man and woman at the back of the winnow are bagging the wheat, one man is sewing the tops bags of wheat together and the other man is operating the machinery.
The people are separating the chaff from the grain using a Winnower. The chaff and grain are fed into the front of the winnower and threshed in a rotating barrel, the movement of the barrel allows the lighter chaff is blown away and the grain falls to the bottom and passes through a sieve and then bagged.
