TOOL, THIMBLE
This metal thimble is used when hand stitching Japanese Sashiko embroidery technique.
Unlike conventional Western style thimbles that sit on the tip of your finger, a sashiko thimble has a ring that slips over the middle finger and sits comfortably in the palm of your hand. This helps to push the long sashiko needles through the fabric when sewing a series of running stitches.
Also known as a ‘coin thimble’ because the metal version, as here, has a round coin-like shape.
