Contextual information

Mrs May MILLS was a devout Salvation Army member - she donated this Bible to our Museum in 1982.

In 1854, this Holy Bible belonged initially to Alfred CURTIS, before being passed on to his grandson, Albert CLARK (wife: Betty). They had no children, and both were buried at Karrakatta Cemetery due to there being no closer Cemetery in their hometown of Busselton.

The Bible was then passed on to Henry George WILLS (wife: Bertha) whom had three sons, one of them being Gordon WILLS whom married May.

Ruby 24mo

FACT: "Ruby 24mo" in the context of antique Bibles refers to a specific 19th-century publishing format, not a biblical term. It indicates a Bible printed in a traditional very small, 5½-point font size ("Ruby"), and bound in a "24mo" (duodecimo) book format, where the sheet was folded into 24 leaves (48 pages). These were often compact, portable pocket Bibles.
