Overview

Brown wooden shield with a chamfered edge. The circular, blue, silver and white C.W.A. logo is located in the centre of the shield, with a rectangular silver plaque above it containing engraved text. On the back is a makers mark.

Historical information

The plaque was presented to the Kelmscott chapter of the CWA by the State Branch of the CWA to commemorate the chapters 60th Anniversary in 2004. The plaque includes the motto of the CWA 'For Home and Country'.
The Kelmscott branch of the C.W.A provided an important place for local women to meet, socialise and well as engage in the learning, sharing and exhibiting of a variety of artist and domestic skills from singing, poetry, recitations, plays, cooking and crafts.

The plaque was presented to the Kelmscott Branch on their 60th anniversary in 2004 by the State CWA branch. The plaque represents the role of the CWA in the Kelmscott community as it evolved from a rural branch into one servicing an outer metropolitan suburb with links to remaining rural industries in the nearby hills.
