Contextual information

80178 EDWARD SUMMERVILLE:

Both medals awarded to E Summerville for service in WWII. Medals are Australian Service Medal and War Service Medal.

Edward Summerville was born 1909, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. He served in the air force as an electrician but was a teacher by profession. Edward taught all over the State but was living and teaching in Busselton when he died in 1965 at the age of 56.

In 1938, he married Una Erica Summerville (nee de Passey) in Kalgoorlie. They had four children, and interestingly, their son also named Edward, took after his father and became a teacher too. Una appears to have died at either 99 or 100 years of age.

Ted and Una were members of the Busselton Historical Society.
