The Bickley Battery Observation Post subsequently installed was at a considerably higher elevation than the original Close Defence observation Post. This enable observation to a greater range across a wider arc covering both Gage Roads and the Examination Area as well as the South West Passage. A Depression Position Finder was installed to swork with the Depression Range Finder to provide the range, bearing and position data to take advantage of the increased visibility
