Thomas Morrell, born 1894, was the son of David Thomas Morrell and Julia Emma Morrell (nee Chidlow) and grew up in Northam. This photograph was sent to his uncle and aunt, Reuben and Elizabeth Morrell, Ironbarks Farm, North Greenough.
Tasman Latimer was a photographer in Perth from 1887.

Handwritten on reverse, "To Lizzie & Reuben wishing them a happy New Year 1895. Little Tom aged 11 months."
Printed on lower front, "T. Latimer Hay St, Perth, W.A."
By the 1890's, photography was more affordable, and the process quicker, thus making it available for a greater range of subjects, including babies. Thus people living some distance apart were able to send photographs of their offspring to other family members.
