Grace Vera Sinclair passed away on January 29, 1913.
An article about Grace's funeral (which occurred on the previous Saturday morning) was published in the Goomalling-Dowerin Mail on Fri 7 Feb 1913. The funeral service was conducted at St John's Church,(assumed to be the Anglican Church in Northam) and the burial was at Katrine Cemetery. Grace's parents were Thomas Bonaparte Napoleon Sinclair and Melinda Amelia Sinclair (nee Wilkerson). Attending the cemetery, along with many mourners from the local community, were her father, sisters, Linda and Sara, and brothers Vivian, Harry and Samuel.

There is a floral tribute placement visible at the base of the monument which strongly implies the photograph was taken around the time of the funeral service or when the monument was freshly erected following her burial. The sepia toning, contrast style, and texture are consistent with Australian photographic print styles from the early 1910s.
