Overview

Lady in front with back to camera is Auntie Bubba (Kathleen Hansen), Older lady is Granny Ettie (Ethel Eades), and behind her is Spencer Riley and standing Auntie Doris. Indigenous reserves were established near to many rural towns. Sparsely built and with poor communal amenities, these were homes for many Indigenous families who were transitioning from Bush or farm life into town life. Family ties were strong throughout these hardships. 1950's-1990's granny Ettie (Hetty) and Spencer Riley are considered important past leaders of the Kojonup Community and honoured in the Kodja Place with their stories.
