Royal Australian Navy Reserves tie pin
c. 1940 - 1952World War Two era Royal Australian Navy Reserves metal and enamel tie or lapel pin.
It features a central medallion surmounted by a King's Crown in the patriotic colours of red, white and blue mounted horizontally across a straight, polished gold tone or brass bar pin.
The main motif is a golden trident emerging from a British naval crown centred on a clean white enamel disc. It is connected at the bottom to a gold bordered rectangular box with the word 'RESERVES' in gold letters embedded in red enamel.
The white disc is encircled by a deep blue enamel ring featuring the gilded text 'ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY' in the upper arc and some gilded rope either side of the text box in the lower arc.
The reverse has a long horizontal pin clasp for attachment and features the issue number ''9444' and the name of the maker 'K & D BERTRAM BROS. MELBOURNE'.
This badge was likely issued to a member of the Royal Australian Navy Reserves who served during the World War Two period.
K. & D. Bertram Bros. was a prominent Australian manufacturer of high-quality die-struck enamel badges, medallions, and membership fobs based in Melbourne, Victoria. Their main manufacturing era was between the 1940s to the 1970s. However, this badge dates to pre-1953, when Queen Elizabeth II took over the throne from her late father, King George VI.
