Request to pay Poundkeeper from J. Bone
1876hand-written note on paper.
John Bone (1832-1918) was a former convict convicted of robbery with violence and sent to the colony on the "Stag" in 1855. By the time this note was written he was married and farming at Greenough.
James Adlam (1813-1893) was a former Enrolled Pensioner Guard granted land at Greenough. He served for many years at Greenough as the pound-keeper.

Mr J.S. Maley Sir Ples to Pay james adlam Poundkeeper one pound seven shilens for leting my horses out of the Pound
P1-7s
J bone
Entd
Whilst there are several notes in the collection associated with either John Bone or James Adlam, this is one of few relating to the role of pound-keeper at Greenough. The fee for release of a horse seems rather excessive, thus warranting Bone's request to Maley for the loan.
