These are (clockwise from left): Miss Shirley Strickland (decd) ( runner); Dr Charles Green (hurdler); Garrick Agnew (swimmer). John Winter (high jumper) and an image of the person in question in action (each approx. 30cm x 50 cm).

In the centre is a further photograph (650cm x 80cm) featuring the lighting of the Olympic flame.
Written underneath: 'The Olympic flame marking the opening of the XIVth Olympiad of the modern series at Wembley Stadium 29th July, 1948.'
