Self Heating Iron
c. 1940A hollow iron which has holes below the top of the iron and two holes on each side of the iron near the base. The iron has a black wooden handle connected to the iron with a u shaped piece of metal. At the back of the iron is a circular globe with adjustable knobs at the top and below the globe.
The knob on the top of the globe can be unscrewed and is where a flammable liquid was poured in. The knob below the globe controlled the amount of flammable liquid that went into the iron and was burnt..

Details
Around the edges of the top of the iron is embossed "COMFORT IRON' and on the other edge is "SELF HEATING".
On the handle of the iron is a metal plaque which has a black background and silver lettering "COMFORT IRON", underneath is "MFU BY", underneath is "NATIONAL STAMPING & ELECTRIC WORKDS", UNDERNEATH IS "MADE IN U.S.A. CHICAGO".
