Charcoal Iron

Overview

A hollow iron that has a funnel at the front and a lever on the top of the iron to open the lid. It has a wooden handle and a scroll pattern on the top of the funnel.

Historical information

This iron was used in South Australian in 1884. It was taken to Cartimeticup in 1901 by Mrs J.R. Patterson, it was in use until 1912. It was used by Polly Patterson 1901-1914(approx). Later after repairs by a blacksmith, Ralph took it out to his property where it stayed until Ian Patterson allowed Hamley (It was put away in 1919 in possession of Mr Hamley Patterson) to take it for donation to Katanning Historical Society.
