Historical information

The Baseball Development Foundation (BDF) was formed in 1991 to coordinate and fund development among all elements of the baseball community. Financed initially by a grant from the West Australian Health Promotion Foundation (Healthways) of $280,000, the BDF would promote the health message from the Cancer Foundation "Protect yourself in the sun" over a period of three years. According to the General Manager of the BDF, Ms Jan Thurley, the Foundation was designed to assist players, coaches, scorers and administrators in improving their skills through new and innovative programs.
